HVAC - The Riverwalk shopping mall was fast track construction project The HVAC system design and installation took less than one year from design start to project completion. The mall consists of 19 separate line shops and two main tenants being Shoprite Checkers and Dischem Pharmacy. Each store has its own dedicated air conditioning and ventilation system. The Checkers is served by a large package unit and the necessary extract systems for canopies in the store. Dischem is served by numerous large in-ceiling ducted split units. The air conditioning systems were designed to be versatile which was achieved by using Daikin split hideaway units in the majority of the stores. The air conditioning equipment selected was carefully considered to reduce the plant space required in order to maximise the available trading space for the malls tenants. Due to the location of the Mall, close to the existing residential area across from Three River’s Mall, we worked closely with the acoustic engineer to ensure all the air-conditioning equipment installed complied with the councils specified night time regulations. Together with the acoustic engineer we developed and installed special acoustic boxes to ensure compliance with the regulations.
